I went on one of those “once in a lifetime” holidays this September. But I’ve put off writing this post for months simply because I don’t know how my experience from South Africa can be accurately penned down. I can’t quite explain the infatuation I have formed with this country, and no one can’t truly capture its dramatic natural beauty that constantly makes you go “Wow!”
Perhaps with the exception of some parts of Australia, South Africa is the most geographically stunning place I’ve ever been to. The ever-changing landscape is the perfect backdrop for activities ranging from wine tasting to seal spotting. Even the urban Cape Town is a nature-lover’s dream come true, with beautiful ‘fynbos’ covering Table Mountain. I’d even say that a trip up Table Mountain alone is worth the 12-plus hour flight down south. We were staying on the Peljesac peninsula in the southern Dalmatian coast. It’s roughly halfway between Dubrovnik and Split, which made it a great spot to settle in and take day trips. 
I visited Rome for the first time 
Marseille is France’s biggest port city. This 2000-year old city has had a bit of a bad reputation it’s trying to overcome. Over the last few years, it has reinvested itself as a gritty, stylish getaway for sunseekers on a budget. Marseille’s renaissance has produced some excellent restaurants, bars and even coffee shops. 
But Barcelona doesn’t need any endorsements. In fact, the residents of Barcelona probably want people like me to stop raving about how amazing their city is. Barcelona is attempting to tamp down its tourist arrivals. Approximately 32 million visitors came to Barcelona last year, which is home to a mere 1.6 million. 
I intended to eat my way through the whole city, but little me only managed to scratch the surface in the 36 hours I was there. However, I got overexcited and researched enough for a week’s worth of meals. So here’s a non-exhaustive list of places you need to eat at while you’re visiting Taipei.
“How do you like living in Hong Kong?” I asked J when I got there.
Then there’s obviously the wine. But more recently, a new wave of chefs is putting Bordeaux on France’s culinary map. For a city its size, Bordeaux’s gastronomic offering is impressive. 
So if you are anywhere near Belgium – go! And go on an empty stomach.
